Most homes we visit have three to six different keys — front door, back door, garage side door, basement, shed, gate. We rekey every cylinder on the property to a single key, or to a small keyed-alike group if you want tenants and cleaners on a separate key. Rekeying keeps your existing hardware and costs far less than replacing locks, and it instantly retires every key a contractor, previous owner or ex-tenant still holds.
A lock is only as strong as the door and frame around it. We fit Grade 1 deadbolts, Medeco, Mul-T-Lock and other pick- and drill-resistant cylinders, add reinforced strike plates with three-inch screws into the stud, and correct sagging doors and misaligned latches so the bolt actually throws fully. On apartment and co-op doors we install code-compliant hardware that satisfies building management.
Smart locks are excellent when they are matched to your door and installed with a mechanical override you can rely on. We supply and fit keypad and app-controlled deadbolts, set up user codes for family, cleaners and dog walkers, and keep a keyed cylinder that we can rekey to your existing house key so one metal key still opens everything.
Locked out at 2am with a sleeping toddler inside? We answer the phone around the clock and open residential doors without damage in the vast majority of cases — picking and bypassing before drilling is ever considered. If a key snapped in the cylinder, we extract it and cut you a fresh one on the spot.
Pricing depends on the number of cylinders and the hardware type. Standard residential cylinders are inexpensive per lock after the service call; high-security and mortise cylinders cost more. We quote the full job before starting — no surprises on the invoice.
Yes, in almost every case. If the hardware is sound we simply change the pins so old keys stop working. We only recommend replacement when the lock is worn out, low grade, or the wrong type for the door.
